Brush Button with Philips Health

Product Innovation

Making of with Google Zoo

When developing the Brush button we had the opportunity and help of Google Zoo. Together we built and tested our first prototype and used those results to further the product with Studio Sophisti.

Cardboard Prototype to MVP

Our first prototype was nothing more than a cardboard box, an LED ring and a big blue button. However with our first version we were able to test multiple scenarios and determined the functionality for our real prototype.

2 Min of Personalized Content

The BrushButton is a bathroom assistant connected to several Google API’s, your personal Google account and Spotify to provide you with 2 minutes worth of content every morning and evening.

App that Keeps Track

To accompany the BrushButton, we developed a mobile app to help you set up, personalize and keep track of your personal brushing habits. Designed by Roy van Dijk

Simple Set-Up

In order to personalize the experience, we designed a simple setup to make the Brush Button truly feel like theirs.

Designed for All Bathrooms

The button was designed to blend in with every type of bathroom by simply sticking it to the mirror, but at the same time serve as a visual reminder without being too obtrusive. The material was inspired by the Philips Diamond Clean toothbrush collection as to make it feel part of the Philips product portfolio.

Philips Health Internal Case Film

We created a case film to help sell the Brush Button internally and educate both employees and stakeholders.

My Role

The brief originally leaned heavily into creating a mobile or app solution to help adults brush for the two full minutes but I really thought a solution that lives in the bathroom would be a more logical answer. So I veered away slightly and from there I was responsible for the ideation of the button and connecting it to your phones data (this was before Amazon Alexa). I was part of a team of five that worked closely Google Zoo and the Philips Health team to create the first prototype to test and learn before developing the final product.
